Russell ‘annoyed’ with second consecutive retirement

George Russell has spoken of his annoyance at being forced to retire for the second race in a row.
The Williams driver was enjoying a solid race when he crashed under the Virtual Safety Car with a mechanical fault, bringing out a full Safety Car and ending his race.
“To be honest we don’t really know what the issue was,” Russell said to reporters in the paddock.
“I just went into the corner and the whole car just bottomed out, so I couldn’t turn and just went straight on into the wall.
“We don’t know if something went under the car or if it was the front wing or if something broke, but yeah we’ll look into it.”

The Brit and his team had finished to finish every race this season up until Singapore, and today marks two DNF’s in a row for him.
“It’s a bit of a shame because the pace was looking good until that point for us,” Russell added.
“Yeah, it’s just annoying to finish two races in a row at the halfway distance.”
Team-mate Robert Kubica also failed to finish the race, marking the team’s first double DNF of the season.
