Fernando Alonso was left to rue the loss of “another six points” as he retired from the United States Grand Prix.
The McLaren driver was running inside the top ten, racing against fellow Spaniard Carlos Sainz when he pulled into the pits.
Reporting yet another engine failure with his Honda power unit, a frustrated Alonso parked his MCL32.
“We did everything we could control,” he posted on Instagram.
“Very good qualy, start and pace.
“Another six points slip from our hands on a very good performance weekend.
“Thank you fans and team for the constant work.”
