Alonso remains the one to beat at Le Mans

Fernando Alonso upped his pace during Sunday’s official 24 Hours of Le Mans test to finish fastest of all.
The double F1 World Champion, who is combining the World Endurance Championship with racing for McLaren in F1, clocked a 3:19.066 around the 13.6km La Sarthe circuit.
Alonso shares the #8 TS050 Hybrid with Sebastien Buemi and Kazuki Nakajima.
His time meant the #8 finished the day 0.6 seconds ahead of the nearest LMP1 rival.
“It was a very good day for us as a team,” said the Spaniard. “We obviously prepared this test in the best way possible before the big race (16/17 June). The car felt good from the first lap and everyone was happy straight away.
“Then it was about getting familiar with the circuit; I have been in the simulator and studied onboard laps from previous years but it’s always different on the real track which feels perfect for these cars. It was an interesting day and a lot of fun.”
