Fernando Alonso has reportedly been offered a 2018 Williams seat as questions over his future continue.
The double World Champion is out of contract with McLaren at the end of this season and is believed to have lost confidence in Honda’s ability to provide a race-winning engine.
This has led to rumours that he could be off to Williams next season.
According to reports, Williams have put an offer on the table thanks to the backing of Lance Stroll’s billionaire father, Lawrence.
Stroll Snr, the rumour says, wants Alonso’s help in developing not only the car but also his son, who is expected to remain at Williams next season.
But, given the Alonso has already stated that he wants a race-winning car or will look outside F1 for a new challenge, Williams is unlikely to be his next destination.
