Alfonso Celis Jr will return to the cockpit of the VJM09 in Austin after being handed another Friday free practice run by Force India.
The Mexican racer last drove for Force India in Italy, which was his fourth FP1 outing.
He will be back in action at Austin, replacing Sergio Perez in the opening practice session for the United States GP weekend.
