Aston Martin delay F1 decision

Aston Martin have indicated that they will only make a final decision about their possible entry into Formula 1 in the new year.

The motoring manufacturer has been in talks with Red Bull, Williams and Force India throughout 2015, with the latter emerging as the most likely partner.

While Force India boss Vijay Mallya admitted that the team had much to benefit from signing with a premium brand such as Aston Martin, reports have suggested that negotiations have crawled to a halt.

That was until Simon Sproule, Aston Martin's marketing and communication director, revealed that a final decision will likely be made in January.

"We have not made any decision," Sproule told

"And we are not likely to make any final decision about either F1 or the broader motor sport strategy until the New Year.

"We also have to figure out what our path forward in sportscar racing is, and where we go with that. We are not looking at F1 in isolation.

"There is a definite inclination not to do it – in 2016, at least. But it could certainly be revisited in future."
