Audi boss: Rumours are nothing new

As Volkswagen are once again linked to Formula 1, Audi’s head of motorsport has downplayed the rumours.
According to the BBC, VW are poised to purchase the Red Bull Racing team.
Former team owner turned TV pundit Eddie Jordan reported: “Red Bull and VW have been in on-and-off talks for more than a year and I understand that the fundamentals of a deal for the sale of the team have been agreed.”
EJ added that the deal would only come into being in 2018, which is line with a recent comment from Red Bull owner Dietrich Mateschitz.
He recently stated that using Ferrari engines would be “very acceptable solution for the next two or three years.”
Should VW enter F1, Audi is believed to the brand they would use, however, for now motorsport head Wolfgang Ullrich is refusing to give any hints as to the company’s future.
“We will see what comes,” Ullrich told Motorsport.com. “This story has been discussed for 20 years. It’s nothing new.”
He did, however, add that “Red Bull is a strong team.”
