Group Lotus CEO Dany Bahar is confident that Kimi Raikkonen will be firing on all cylinders when he turns out for Renault next year.
The Finn has come in for criticism in the past for appearing disinterested both on and off the track. Many have questioned his motivation – or apparent lack there of – throughout his F1 career owning in a large part due to his laid back nature and unwillingness to converse with the media.
However, Bahar, who worked with Raikkonen at Ferrari, believes that the 32-year-old’s return to the sport is proof enough that he is motivated.
“As with anyone we work with on and off track, we expect him to do his best,” Bahar told the official Formula One website.
“I fully expect that he will take his commitment to the team very seriously and will do everything he can to bring in points. From what I know of Kimi from previous experience, he is a dedicated and determined driver and he wants results.
“He hasn’t taken the decision to return to F1 lightly – he wants to fight to be at front.”
