Bottas: Good surprise for Williams

They didn't have things their way in Singapore, but Valtteri Bottas says Williams were always confident they would improve at Suzuka.

Williams were well off the pace in qualifying last weekend as the Ferraris, Red Bulls and Mercedes cars all started ahead of both Bottas and team-mate Felipe Massa as the nature of the street circuit didn't suit the FW37.

However, it is a different story in Japan and the Grove squad are once again right up there as Bottas will start third on the grid behind the Merc duo of Nico Rosberg and Lewis Hamilton while Massa was fifth fastest.

"It's good for us. Obviously a very different track from Singapore and we knew it was going to be better for our car," the Finn said.

"I think we came into this weekend with a good set-up already so we didn't have that much work to do from practice to qualifying.

"Today was one of the most difficult Saturdays we have had because there was rain on Friday. Here qualifying is very important so a good surprise."
