Valtteri Bottas says it is "too early" to begin talks for 2017 but is keen to be in a position where he can win grands prix.
On the back of a breakthrough 2014 season, in which he secured six podium finishes with Williams, Bottas spent last year downplaying rumours linking him to Ferrari.
The 26-year-old later admitted that the constant speculation had been a distraction and is keen to avoid spending another year under the spotlight.
"It is too early to start discussion with just two races gone," he told the Turun Sanomat newspaper.
"It is quite clear that I want to win and at the moment that looks very difficult."
Pressed on what he expects from Williams this season, the Finn conceded that his team could be facing a "difficult" year.
He said: "Aerodynamics has improved but others have as well.
"Behind Mercedes and Ferrari it is so tight that every little improvement helps a lot."
He added that he is "fully motivated going forward" but admits it "will be a difficult year" for Williams.
