Brawn apologises for poor F1 TV service

Formula One Management technical boss Ross Brawn has apologised after the launch of F1 TV was plagued with technical issues.

The new in-house subscription service offered by Formula 1 had already got to a rocky start after the platform was not ready for launch at the season opener in Australia and was subsequently delayed until Spain.

However, its debut at the Circuit de Catalunya was far from successful, with many users bombarding Formula 1’s social platforms with a plethora of technical problems.

Fans who signed up for the service in eligible countries have been offered a refund and assured that broadcasting will improve for the next race in Monaco.

But Brawn has apologised on behalf of Formula 1 for the inconvenience caused.

“I confess social media is not a big part of my world,” Brawn told the official Formula 1 website. “But I do appreciate its importance in reaching new audiences, especially among our younger fans.

“Three initiatives made their debut in Barcelona: F1 TV, the Twitter Live Show, and F1 Vision, the most advanced handheld device on which to follow the race.

“The launch of the former did not go very smoothly, and apologies to our fans, but we are dragging our sport from a place where none of these initiatives previously existed and we will get there.”
