Brawn: I’ve not had any talks with Ferrari

Ross Brawn has rubbished reports that he was being lined up to replace James Allison at Ferrari, saying he never had any communication with his former employers.
Earlier this week reports in Italy linked Brawn to a return to Formula 1 with Ferrari where he was instrumental in Michael Schumacher’s run of World titles.
However, the former technical director, who quit the sport when he parted ways with Mercedes after the 2013 season, insists there were never any talks on the matter.
“I’ve not had any communication with Ferrari whatsoever, so I don’t know where all the stories have come from,” he told Motorsport.com. “I’ve not had a proposal, and I’ve not said no!
“I’ve got no plans to return to F1. Nothing has come along that excites me more than what I’m doing now.
“Life in some ways is smoother and more evenly balanced, but doesn’t quite have the peaks of excitement that racing used to give me. But that’s something I can live without for the compensations of the rest of it.
“Nothing has come along that has made me think that I want to change my lifestyle again, and that’s still the case.”
Brawn, though, conceded that he may consider returning to the sport should the right offer be put on the table.
“That’s why you can never say never,” he added. “I don’t know what it would be, to be frank. My life is fairly busy, and I don’t seem to have a spare day.
“Ron Dennis had a conversation with me a couple of years ago about how I was going to get bored. He said it happened to him. He’d been eased out of his position, and he was out on the golf course.
“He was just about to tee up a ball when he thought, ‘Sod this, I enjoy work more than I enjoy golf, so I’m going to go back to work!’ He reached that point, and I understand that.
“I enjoy some parts of work more than I enjoy fishing, but I don’t enjoy all of it. It’s the price you pay to have fun, and it’s a pretty high price – travel away from home all the time, and so on.
“That’s why if something came along which didn’t have that price to pay, it could be interesting. But I don’t know what it is, I have no idea. And I’m not out looking for it.”
