Buemi urges team to keep improving

Sebastien Buemi has urged his Toro Rosso team to continue developing their STR6 as they fight for P8 in the teams’ battle.

Toro Rosso had one of the better starts out of F1’s lower ranked midfield teams and were fighting with Sauber for sixth place before the latter surged ahead.

That left them in a fight with Force India for seventh, however, once again Toro Rosso lost out with Force India now ahead by four points.

However, P8 was the team’s initial goal at the start of the Championship and Buemi reckons they can hold on to it, they just have to keep improving. Williams, who are ninth, are 18 points behind Toro Rosso.

“The objective at the start of the season was to finish eighth in the Championship,” he told Autosport. “We were seventh for a long time but now we have lost a place to Force India, so we are now eighth.

“It’s really important that we continue to improve the car. This is the key during the second half of the season.

“If we can bring some new parts that work well on the car, it should be no problem to keep doing what we have been doing so far. If we don’t improve the car, it is going to be hard.”

He added: “We have some stuff coming for Spa which hopefully is going to help us. So hopefully we will be able to close the gap to our competitors.

“If we do a good job, it’s still very possible to have a strong second part of the season.”
