Jenson Button will reportedly announce his retirement from Formula 1 at this weekend’s Japanese Grand Prix.
After 16 years, nearly 300 races and one World title, the Brit is expected to call time on his F1 career with the announcement coming at Suzuka.
Although Button has often spoken of his love for Formula 1, a difficult season spent running at the back – or not at all – has led to him deciding it is time to quit.
According to the Daily Mail, “sources close to Button have told Sportsmail that he has reluctantly made up his mind to end his 16-year career.”
Telegraph Sport is reporting the same, adding that the “35-year-old is expected to combine a sportscar drive in the Le Mans-style World Endurance Championship with a media career, rumoured to include the revamped Top Gear.”
