Jenson Button will drive a McLaren F1 car through the streets of Manchester later this month as part of a three-day celebration of F1.

From the 27th to the 29th of August, Vodafone VIP will host the Vodafone McLaren Mercedes Fan Zone in Albert Square, which Vodafone customers and their friends can access.

While there will be a go-kart track, interactive F1 experiences including a pit stop challenge, and an F1 simulator, the highlight of the event will be Button’s demonstration run.

The demo run will take place on Monday morning with the 2009 World Champ driving his car through the streets of Manchester, starting in Deansgate.

“Driving a McLaren through Manchester is going to be pretty cool. We do a lot of demos round the world where we get to have some fun with the cars and entertain the crowds, so it is great to come home to do one,” said the Brit.

“I’m looking forward to putting on a show, creating some noise, smoke and hopefully entertaining the crowds.

“There’s also the chance for the spectators to win some great prizes so I hope Manchester and its Vodafone VIP customers are going to be out in force.”
