Should Ferrari not retain Kimi Raikkonen, they won't have a tough job replacing him as there are "many" – including Valtteri Bottas – who want his seat.
Ferrari have an option on the 2007 World Champion for next season but have yet to sign on the dotted line.
Although Raikkonen is keen to stay on, a mistake in Canada that cost him a shot at the podium followed by a first lap crash in Austria have not done his chances much good.
For now, though, Ferrari are biding their time.
Team boss Maurizio Arrivabene has revealed that several drivers have approached them of which Bottas, who is topping the list in the rumour mill, is just one.
"If I gave you the list of drivers who have called me since the start of the season," he told Gazzetta dello Sport. "Bottas is one of many.
"The Ferrari is the car everyone dreams of driving, but there are only two seats and both are full."
Asked whether Daniel Ricciardo, in the midst of a frustrating season with Red Bull, is one of the drivers interested in a seat, Arrivabene said no.
"Perhaps he does not have my number," he added.
