Felipe Massa believes Ferrari have taken a few steps forward during the second pre-season test in Barcelona.
Both Massa and team-mate Fernando Alonso admitted in Jerez a fortnight ago that the Maranello squad still had lot of work to do at the final two tests after they failed to shine.
While rivals Red Bull and McLaren have moved up a significant gear in Barcelona and are running full race simulations this week, Ferrari have once again focused on “acquiring data on the behaviour of the new car”.
Massa, though, feels the team have made progress since the first test in the south of Spain.
“The car is definitely better compared to Jerez and we are beginning to define how we must move forward to continue to improve,” the Brazilian told the official Ferrari website.
“I ran all the time on the hardest tyres and I am reasonably pleased with the work we did.
“Tomorrow (Friday), I will try the other compounds and we will work on fine tuning the car. It will be important to do a lot of kilometres over these final five days to be as well prepared as possible for the first race of the season.”
