Maurizio Arrivabene says it is his "honest expectation" that Ferrari will beat Mercedes next season.
Although Ferrari have closed the gap to Mercedes this year, the Brackley team's drivers have without a doubt been the ones to beat.
They have dominated qualifying sessions, taking pole position all but once, while holding down the 1-2 in the Drivers' standings.
The championship has already been won by Lewis Hamilton with Nico Rosberg wrapping up second with a race win last Sunday in Brazil.
Ferrari have had to settle for best of the rest with Sebastian Vettel, who has won three races, third on the log while Ferrari are runner-up behind Mercedes in the teams' battle.
Next year, though, Arrivabene firmly believes Ferrari will be the team on top.
"If you want my honest expectation [for 2016], it is not to be closer to them but to be in front of them," said the team boss.
"I tell you that with humility, but we are closer even now so we must be in front next year."
One of Ferrari's biggest gains this year has been on the engine front.
The Scuderia's latest spec engine has narrowed the power deficit to its Mercedes counterpart and Arrivabene feels there is no reason why similar gains can't be made next year.
"Of course, this is what we are doing – we are looking to improve the car in every single part," he said. "The engine was a big improvement for this year, and next year we are working very hard on all the other parts of the car."
