FIA order inquiry into Vettel rant

After Sebastian Vettel’s furious rant on the team radio towards the end of the Mexican Grand Prix, FIA president Jean Todt ordered an inquiry into the matter.

Vettel vented his frustrations at Max Verstappen and race director Charlie Whiting for the youngster’s driving during the closing stages of Sunday’s race.

“Jean Todt has requested a special report from the race stewards in regards to the radio conversation between Vettel and the race director,” an official from the FIA told AFP.

Reports have suggested that Vettel could face a grid penalty or a race ban.

However, the official also stated that only once all the evidence is collected will Todt make a decision.

Adding to Vettel’s woes, the four-time World Champion was also handed a ten-second penalty for blocking Daniel Ricciardo, as he dropped from third to fifth on the grid as a result.
