Formula 1 could rename the Halo ahead of its 2018 debut as some feel the current name is too tame.
Next season all the Formula 1 cars will carry the cockpit protection device after the FIA declared it mandatory.
But while introduction of cockpit protection has divided the paddock, so too apparently has the name.
A senior F1 source told Motorsport.com: “We’re supposed to be a gladiatorial sport, and then we give the device an angelic name.
“We have various options [for a new name], but it could be something like ‘safety cage’.”
A new name will be discussed at the F1 Strategy Group meeting on November 7.
