Gasly eyeing Ricciardo’s Red Bull seat

Pierre Gasly admits he’d like to be in contension to replace Daniel Ricciardo should the Aussie not re-sign with Red Bull for 2019.
Although Ricciardo is in talks with his current Formula 1 team with Christian Horner stating he’d like for him to continue, he has been linked to both Mercedes and Ferrari.
Earlier this week Sebastian Vettel admitted that he wouldn’t mind if his former team-mate joined him at Ferrari in the years to come.
Should Ricciardo leave Red Bull there are a host of young drivers wanting his seat, including Toro Rosso’s Gasly.
Asked if he’d like a promotion to Red Bull, the Frenchman told F1i.com: “Of course!
“My goal is to fight for the title.
“I’m a Red Bull driver and I strive to race for the main team, but it’s too early to say more about it than that.
“I’m preparing for my first full season in Toro Rosso, so that’s my main task.”
