Pierre Gasly has received a Red Bull promotion as he has been confirmed as the team's official reserve driver for the rest of the 2015 campaign.

The Red Bull Junior driver, who is currently racing for the DAMS team in the GP2 Series, takes over from Sebastien Buemi and Antonio Felix da Costa.

The former Eurocup Formula Renault 2.0 champion and Formula Renault 3.5 Series runner-up has appeared on the GP2 podium three times this season while he also claimed one pole position.

He has already had a taste of the action as he was on the sidelines at the Singapore and Japanese Grands Prix the past two weekends.

"I’m the reserve driver for the team until the end of the year," the 19-year-old said. "It’s a nice sign of confidence and it shows that the team is satisfied with my work.

"It is a unique experience for me because I will live within an entire Grand Prix weekend. I attend briefings and debriefings, I listen and analyse feedback from drivers on the car and the changes made to it."
