Gearbox penalty for Giovinazzi

Antonio Giovinazzi will start Sunday’s Chinese GP from P18 on the grid after his C36 required a new gearbox following his qualifying crash.
Giovinazzi brought out the double waved yellows on Saturday afternoon as he crashed heavily at the final corner.
As a result of the crash his C36 required a new gearbox, dropping the Italian to the back of the grid.
Giovinazzi had qualified P15, making it into Q2, but was unable to run in that session.
He will start the Chinese GP 18th on the grid elevating Stoffel Vandoorne, Max Verstappen, Esteban Ocon.
Romain Grosjean and Jolyon Palmer make up the final row on the grid after their penalties for failing to slow sufficiently for Giovinazzi’s crash.
