Romain Grosjean was pleased to break into Q3 at the Interlagos circuit on Saturday especially as his seventh place came on the back of two Q1 exits.
The Haas driver has had a difficult time of late resulting in the team changing brake material for this weekend's Brazilian GP.
The change paid dividends as Grosjean broke into Q3 on Saturday afternoon.
Although the Frenchman did just one run in the top-ten shoot-out, he qualified in seventh place with a 1:11.937.
"It’s good to be back in Q3, especially after the last two races where we were out in Q1 and really struggling," said Grosjean.
"The feeling was good right from the beginning and the cooler track conditions today really helped us a lot.
"There are still plenty of margins to improve for the future.
"We’re always learning more about what we need to do, but we really weren’t expecting to be in Q3 today.
"Generally though, when we do get things working well together, we’re quite fast, which is encouraging."
