New Ferrari test driver Esteban Gutierrez is hoping his time with the Sauber will allow him to ease his way into life at Ferrari.
After two seasons with Sauber, Gutierrez was dropped following a disappointing season that ended without a single point for the team.
The Mexican racer was soon snapped up by Ferrari, who signed the 23-year-old to their test driver roaster.
Earlier this week, he met the team personnel and had the necessary seat fittings.
“Now, the important thing for me is to adapt and to settle in to this new environment as quickly as possible,” he said.
“I need to get to know the people I will be working with and I hope that my experience with the Ferrari engine will mean I can contribute to the development of the new power unit.”
He added that joining Ferrari is an “an honour, because this is a place where history is made.”
