Hamilton pins hopes on race strategy

He may have played second fiddle to Nico Rosberg in qualifying, but Lewis Hamilton hopes his set-up will be the difference during Sunday's Mexican Grand Prix.

Rosberg claimed his fourth consecutive pole position with a 1:19.480 as he was faster than his Mercedes team-mate throughout Q3, with his time 0.188 better than that of Hamilton.

Despite not being able to match the German, Hamilton is quite optimistic about his chances for the race as he believes he can still improve while their set-ups are also quite different.

"This weekend, Nico has been quick. I’ve just been chipping away at it and there were a couple of moments where the car felt pretty spectacular," he said. "Otherwise, generally, there are areas when I could improve both with my driving and with the set-up.

"We have quite a bit of a different set-up this weekend so perhaps the avenue I went for might not be perfect for qualifying but it will be good for the race."
