Hamilton: We’re looking strong in Sochi

After finishing the second practice session with the fastest lap time, World Champion Lewis Hamilton has revealed that there is still plenty of work to do during the rest of the weekend.

Nico Rosberg topped FP1 but only to be outdone by his Mercedes teammate Hamilton in FP2, with the former failing to pip his fellow German Sebastian Vettel for second fastest time.

Despite Mercedes dominating the first two sessions of the day, Hamilton has downplayed talk that the silver arrows are going to make it four victories in a row.

"It's been a constructive day to start the weekend," the Brit said.

"We got through most of our programme except one last little bit at the end [of the second session] as some of my tyres were flat-spotted, but no big drama there.

"I think we're looking strong here, but we need to keep working hard if we are to try and stay ahead of the Ferraris – they look like they might be another step closer this weekend.

"We've got a few things to look at to make sure we perfect the set-up for qualifying."
