Red Bull team boss Christian Horner is happy with Mark Webber’s performance in Singapore despite the Australian once again failing to challenge his team-mate.
Webber has been completely overshadowed by his Sebastian Vettel throughout the season and finds himself fourth in the Drivers’ Championship with 182 points compared to the German’s 309. While Vettel has won nine races this season, Webber’s best results to date are a couple of second-place finishes in Turkey and Belgium.
He was again off Vettel’s pace in Singapore and had to settle for third with McLaren’s Jenson Button claiming second place.
Horner, though, insists people shouldn’t forget that Webber is up against “a world-class driver” at Red Bull.
“He is up against the best driver in the world at the moment,” Horner said.
“Take nothing away from Mark, he is a world-class driver, it is just Sebastian has upped the level to such a phenomenal height.
“At a track that has not particularly suited him over the years, he did a really good job, making a couple of good passes on Fernando (Alonso).
“Rest assured, he will be pushing hard to win grands prix in the remaining five races.”
