Introducing PF1 Fantasy Racing

Date published: February 24 2015

So you have always dreamed about managing your own F1 team, but will you turn into a Ross Brawn or a Paul Stoddart. Can you manage your money like Williams and Bernie Ecclestone, or are you a Caterham team boss who will end up auctioning your assets after a failed F1 campaign?

PlanetF1 has launched its own Fantasy Racing game with Memento Exclusives on board to bring you cool prizes, including a Lotus F1 Exhaust Lamp worth over £1000. Oh wait, did we mention that it is FREE? Let's do that now. It's FREE!

Be warned though, it's tricky. Lewis Hamilton or the cheaper option of Nico Rosberg? Red Bull's Daniel Ricciardo or Sebastian Vettel in the Ferrari? Who will be your two Constructors? And don't forget about your Engine supplier and Bonus Race.

First things first, you only have €100 million to spend and you need to budget carefully as you need four drivers, two constructors and one engine. This is where your Ecclestone financial management 101 course will come in handy. Now for the good news, you don't have to pay for your bonus race.

Of course you get points for the performances of your drivers, constructors and engine during the race and you can read up on the rules on the Fantasy Racing Page.

However, something that sets PF1's Fantasy Racing apart from a lot of other games is the fact that you also get points for qualifying, which often throws up some interesting results. It also means that the transfer deadline for a race weekend is on the Friday and not a couple of hours before the actual race.

Okay so you are happy with the team you have selected, now create or join a mini league (make sure to add yourself to the PlanetF1 Editors' League).

And you are done, well nearly. Don't forget your team name and you have to change your line-up (if you feel you need to) before every race weekend as you get three transfers per race.

Finally, you need to select a bonus race – one where you will score double points – and remember you can't change your selection once you have submitted your final team for the first race. So careful with your selection. Unlike Bernie Ecclestone's failed double points rule, our bonus race is a winner as you can choose any grand prix.

And voilà! You are good to go. Good luck.

PS: Don't forget PF1 will be giving you pieces on "Picking the Right Driver", "Picking the Right Constructor", "Picking the Right Engine" and "Choosing the Best Bonus Race" in the run-up to the new season.

To register, visit PlanetF1's Fantasy Racing page or head to Memento Exclusives for more on some of the cool gadgets they have on offer.

To co-incide with the launch of PlanetF1 Fantasy Racing, Memento Exclusives has once again come to the table and fans who sign up for the game before the season-opening Australian GP will go into the draw for a black Sahara Force India Wheel Rim Table signed by Nico Hulkenberg.
