Narain Karthikeyan is hoping to secure a permanent seat in F1 after signing a new sponsor earlier this week.

The Indian driver began this year’s campaign with HRT but was dropped ahead of the British GP in favour of Red Bull-backed Daniel Ricciardo.

Karthikeyan, though, is scheduled to return to the team in place of Ricciardo for the inaugural Indian GP.

However, he wants a permanent place in Formula One.

“I want to drive in F1 as long as possible,”he told Reuters after signing a sponsorship contract with India’s largest two-wheeler manufacturers Hero Motor.

“It is the pinnacle of motorsports and that’s what we are trying to do. How and when that will come up in due course.”

As for his new sponsorship, he revealed it is a “long-term relationship with Hero Motors.

“The kind of exposure that the Indian GP brings to the country will benefit me as well to secure the budget next year.”
