Kimi Raikkonen has been nominated for a Laureus World Sport award in the Best Sporting Moment of the Year category.

A young French fan called Thomas was spotted in tears at the Spanish Grand Prix when his favourite driver retired following a clash with Max Verstappen and Valtteri Bottas.

Thomas, though, would go on to have a day he will never forget as he was invited by Ferrari to join them for the rest of the afternoon and meet his hero.

Raikkonen gave Thomas a Ferrari cap and he was also allowed to get a very close look at the podium celebrations following Lewis Hamilton's win.

Raikkonen is nominated alongside the likes of Francesco Totti for his farewell at Roma, while Barcelona's epic comeback win against PSG in the Champions League is also on the shortlist.

Fans have been asked to select their favourite on the Laureus website, and Raikkonen is currently way out in front with over half of the overall vote.
