Robert Kubica will reportedly be given the opportunity to take part in a private test for Williams ahead of potentially joining the team in 2018.
With Renault opting to take Carlos Sainz on a year-long loan from the Red Bull family, it closed the door on the Pole returning to Formula 1 with his former team.
However, Kubica is still determined to complete the long road to recovery from his rally accident and, since it was reported that he had asked for his release from Renault, he has taken on reigning World Champion and former Williams driver Nico Rosberg as part of his management team.
Now Auto Motor und Sport and Canal are both reporting that Kubica will have a private test, possibly at Interlagos, to run the rule over him.
Lance Stroll is also set to accompany him, with the Canadian rookie no stranger to private tests throughout the season to help him improve his knowledge of certain tracks.
Stroll's hefty financial backing from his father will ensure he will stay with Williams for 2018, but doubts remain over Felipe Massa after he came out of a short-lived retirement to replace Valtteri Bottas this season.
