Ahead of his home race, the Russian Grand Prix, Daniil Kvyat says “every little thing” makes a different in Formula 1’s midfield battle.
As many predicted, this year’s midfield is proving to be closely-contested with four teams vying for fourth place in the Constructors’ Championship.
After three races P4 belongs to Force India on 17 points, however, Haas in seventh are only nine points adrift.
As for Toro Rosso, they are sixth with 12 points and Kvyat concedes that the smallest things are making all the difference in the midfield tussle.
“It is quite versatile,” he said of the STR12. “Similar kind of performance on the same track so far.
“We’ve been fighting for points, Q3s, at every track.
“We just need to put it very well together as the difference between being the fourth best team or the seventh best team is very, very narrow.
“It is important for us to know we have the package to do well.
“The team is operating extremely well, from an operational side of things, very professional especially because of how tight it is in the midfield.
“Every little thing makes a difference for us.
“It makes it very interesting every qualifying session when you are on the limit and the same in the race.”
