Niki Lauda believes Nico Rosberg is currently driving better than Lewis Hamilton, adding that the German seems to have his head in the game at the moment.
Hamilton claimed his 10th win of the season at the United States GP to clinch the 2015 Drivers' Championship, but Rosberg has hit back strongly in the last two races as he won in Mexico and Brazil on Sunday.
Although Hamilton has also secured the 2015 Pole Position Trophy, Rosberg is on a roll in qualifying as he has now taken pole in the last five races.
While Rosberg insists "it's not a head thing", Mercedes non-executive chairman Lauda feels he is now better than Hamilton thanks to his mentality.
"Suddenly [Robserg's] brain switched and off he goes," he is quoted as saying by Motorsport.com. "These things happen to drivers. Sometimes you fight with yourself, and suddenly you get free in your head and off you go – because he is as quick as Lewis. Everything going well for him, he can win.
"Nevertheless [Hamilton] is still fighting; you can see this every lap. But at the moment, Nico is better."
