Leclerc gets Ferrari run-out in Hungary

Charles Leclerc will jump inside a 2017 Formula 1 car for the first time as he will test for Ferrari at the two-day test following the Hungarian Grand Prix.

Leclerc has taken the F2 World Championship by storm this season, winning five races and opening up a 67-point lead at the top of the standings.

The 19-year-old is part of Ferrari's young driver academy and, as his stock continues to rise, there is increasing speculation that he is being lined up for a place on the 2018 grid.

The Hungaroring will provide Ferrari with an opportunity to gauge whether he is ready to take the step up at this early stage career, but Leclerc is no stranger to F1 cars having tested in the 2014 Ferrari and taking part in several FP1 sessions for Haas in 2016.

Ferrari have not officially confimed the news, but an announcement is set to be made in due course.
