Magnussen happy with contract confirmation

Kevin Magnussen is happy to have his future resolved, putting aside any questions about where he will be racing next season.

Prior to the Hungarian Grand Prix, Haas team owner Gene Haas announced that both Magnussen and Romain Grosjean will remain at the team next season.

“We will run with the same drivers that we have this year again next year,” he told the official F1 website. “That is a given.”

Haas’ announcement puts to rest any rumours about the team’s line-up, something that Magnussen – who has never had job security in F1 – is grateful for.

“I knew, when I signed the contract, there were two years, so it’s not news for me,” he said.

“But it’s good of Gene to tell everyone and make it… now we will have the questions so hopefully no more of those kind of questions for the rest of the season.

“It’s nice to be in that situation because for the last two seasons I’ve done in Formula One it’s been always frustrating to talk about contracts every races in the last part of the season.

“Now, it’s clear what the plan is so we can focus on racing and just push freely and not worry about anything – just go racing as hard as I can.”
