After months of waiting, Marussia have finally signed a bilateral agreement with Bernie Ecclestone, securing the team’s future in F1.

Although Marussia’s rivals all signed up earlier in the year, Ecclestone did not offer the backmarker a deal at the time.

Talks between the two parties, though, started in the wake of the summer break with Graeme Lowdon confirming on Friday that a deal had been concluded.

“It’s something that we’re happy to have concluded,” the Marussia sporting director told the BBC.

“It has taken a long time, but the key thing is, that we’ve got the deal and we can look forward to racing for many years to come.”

And although Marussia are currently 10th in this year’s Championship, their new deal is believed to include a form of payment even if they don’t finish tenth.

Lowdon, though, refused to address the rumours.

“I can’t confirm the content of the deal, other than to say that we are happy with the outcome and we are looking forward to the future now,” he told Autosport.
