Massa on his shock Q1 exit

Williams driver Felipe Massa blamed traffic for his horrid Q1 run ahead of the Spanish Grand Prix, where he qualified in P10.

The Brazilian was deeply disappointed that he was part of the first six casualties during Q1 and added that the team did not have enough time for a second run during the first round.

“There were slow cars going out of the garages in front of me on my lap, and then we didn’t have time to go again,” explained the former Ferrari driver.

“For sure we didn’t take the right approach and procedure to go out with enough time on the first run, traffic happened and then we could not go again. It was really frustrating.”

Suffering his worst qualifying performance since Russia 2014, Massa’s teammate Valterri Bottas qualified in a respectable P7 at the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya.
