Felipe Massa insists Ferrari will not give up on this season as their 2012 challenger will be based on this year’s car.

Ferrari have failed to take the challenge to Red Bull Racing this season and, after eight grands prix, already trail the reigning World Champions by 166 points.

A large part of the deficit has to do with the fact that the Italian marque is still chasing their first race win of the campaign with the best result coming courtesy of Fernando Alonso’s runner-up finishes in Monaco and Europe.

Massa has yet to even make the podium and has just 42 points compared to Alonso’s 87. However, even the Spaniard is far off the pace set by Sebastian Vettel, who has scored 186 points.
