McLaren are the latest team to confirm that their 2012 challenger will be ready for the first pre-season test.
The Woking team announced on Monday that the new car, named the MP4-27, will be launched on February 1 and “will test for the first time at Jerez on February 7-9”.
The team chose Berlin’s Potsdamer Platz as the venue for their 2011 launch, but they are yet to reveal where they will unveil next year’s car.
Jenson Button and Lewis Hamilton, who will be their driver pairing for the third consecutive year, will be keen to avoid a repeat of their 2011 pre-season woes. Both drivers struggled to come to grips with the MP4-26 and they covered the least distance in testing.
The team, though, did manage to iron out their problems before the season opener in Australia where Hamilton claimed a podium.
Ferrari and Sauber have also confirmed in recent days that their new cars will be launched before the first test at Jerez.
