Mercedes team member robbed at gunpoint

Mercedes have confirmed that a team member was a “little shaken up” when robbed at gunpoint in Mexico City in the build-up to this weekend’s grand prix.
According to Press Association Sport, watches and wallets were stolen when two gunmen targeted a chauffeur-driven car that was on its way to the team hotel.
Both the team member and the driver were unhurt in the ordeal, which took place when they stuck in traffic.
“A team member was robbed while travelling from the airport towards the city on Wednesday when in heavy stationary traffic,” a Mercedes spokesperson said.
“Wallets and watches were taken and there were no physical injuries, but they were a little shaken up for obvious reasons.
The team member was not wearing Mercedes-branded clothing, nor was it a high-profile person within the Brackley squad.
