According to Lance Stroll’s father Lawrence, his son will be in a Formula 1 race seat next season, but whether it will be at Williams or at another team remains to be answered.

The Canadian won the Formula 3 European Championship recently at Imola, with his closest rival trailing by over 100-points.

Stroll, who is a Williams development driver, has strongly been linked with Felipe Massa’s drive, who announced his retirement earlier in the season.

“Lance will be in F1 next year,” Stroll Snr told Le Journal de Montreal.

“You can mark my words.

“He is fulfilling his dream. His race and title wins in F3 are no small feat, but what I am the most proud of is the way he has reached these heights.

“You have no idea how hard he has worked since his career started. His care and relentlessness have made him a champion this year. It’s been a long, sometimes tough journey but he has reaped the most beautiful reward.

“Now he has reached his ultimate goal of making it into F1. I’m sure he’ll be successful there. It’s a big challenge and he has been preparing for it for a long time.”

Stroll Snr also confirmed that his 17-year-old son has at least two options for a 2017 opportunity.

“We are currently studying two options. Everything will be clear in a few weeks’ time,” he concluded.
