Felipe Nasr has emerged as the one of the leading contenders for the Force India seat; that’s according to reports in Germany.
Last week it was confirmed Force India had one seat available for next year’s championship after Nico Hulkenberg announced that he is off to Renault.
Germany’s Auto Motor und Sport reports that Sauber driver Nasr is one of the favourites to replace him.
Nasr may be point-less this season but last year he scored 27 points with Sauber and has the “blessing” of F1 supremo Bernie Ecclestone, who is keen to ensure that there is a Brazilian on the grid.
Added to that, Nasr comes with sponsorship from Banco do Brasil which is reportedly worth “15 million dollars.”
He is, however, just one candidate with Pascal Wehrlein, Esteban Ocon, Jolyon Palmer and Esteban Gutierrez also looking to secure their futures.
