Nasr: Maybe one day I’ll be back

Having covered his final laps with Williams, Felipe Nasr is hoping to carry the lessons he’s learned through to his time with Sauber.

Despite signing with Sauber for next season, Williams honoured their contract with Nasr by putting him in the FW36 for the final time at the post-season Abu Dhabi test.

“It’s good to have a last test in the car, to work with the guys one more time,” Nasr told Crash.net. “It’s been a great year together to drive the FW36.

“We did some different kind of programs, more focused on the 2015 tyres and the long runs, so for myself it was a good experience. I think all the things I’ve learned this year for sure I can take on to Sauber next year.”

The Brazilian hailed the support of Felipe Massa and Valtteri Bottas during his time with Williams, revealing that both drivers were always willing to help, imparting their knowledge to the test driver.

“It’s been a good relationship, not only with [Massa] but with Valtteri as well; he’s a good guy and a good driver,” said Nasr.

“They’re all very keen to help, very open, so it was good to work with everyone – engineers, mechanics, drivers – for myself to take so much in one year driving GP2 at the same time… it was tough to do both at the same time but in the end I feel that it’s pretty good to have that extra.”

But as they say, all good things come to an end, and Nasr has wished Williams well for the future.

He added: “It’s not nice to leave but I understand that professionally I have to take the next step. I wish them the best and maybe one day I will come back.”
