McLaren executive director Zak Brown has said the team are not interested in allowing Lando Norris get Formula 1 experience with another team first and is their "star of the future".

After also impressing at the in-season test Hungary, there is an eagerness to see Norris make the step up to Formula 1 already, but Brown has said he will only get his chance with McLaren and not another team.

"No team has made a request so far, and our current plan is to let him compete in Formula 2," Brown told Speed Week.

"He's definitely our star of the future, so I do not think we're giving him to another team.

"I am convinced that he is fast enough to compete in Formula 1 now, but we also have to ensure it's not too soon for him and he gets enough experience."
