Ocon: A good job will guarantee my future

Esteban Ocon is hoping that a good job in this season’s remaining races will ensure he remains on the Formula 1 grid next season.
Ocon made his Manor debut at this year’s Belgian Grand Prix, finishing in 16th place.
To date that has been his best showing while he has yet to out-qualify team-mate Pascal Wehrlein.
There is no doubting the 20-year-old’s talent as he earlier in his career he won the European Formula 3 Championship title as well as the GP3 crown.
However, what Ocon wants now, is a deal for next season.
“If I do a good job that comes automatically,” he told motorsport-magazin.com. “That’s what I’m focusing on at the moment.
“I am therefore not under extra pressure, I’m only looking to the next race.”
Ocon is already in the sights of two works teams in Mercedes and Renault.
Earlier this year the Mercedes protégé was a test driver for Renault, before stepping up to the Manor race-seat.
“My career is managed by Mercedes and I’m a Renault driver,” he explained. “More than that I cannot say.
“I am very happy to be working for both. Both are very good teams. Both have won races and World Championships.
“Therefore, it makes me proud that I am trusted by these two teams.”
