Esteban Ocon will contest his second Formula 1 practice session next time out in Spain, having been handed a FP1 drive by Renault.

Last weekend at the Russian Grand Prix it was new signing Sergey Sirotkin who was behind the wheel of the RS16 in Friday’s opening practice at his home circuit.

Now Ocon is set to have his turn.

The test driver will take part in first practice at the Spanish Grand Prix where he is likely to replace Jolyon Palmer as Kevin Magnussen sat out Sochi’s FP1.

The reigning GP3 Champion made the announcement on Twitter.
