Penalty set to end Hulkenberg’s streak
Nico Hulkenberg’s run of six consecutive P7 starts from the grid is set to end in Baku after he picked up a five-place grid penalty.
Hulkenberg experienced an issue with the RS18 in FP3 and, after bringing the car back to the pits, the mechanics have opted to change to a new gearbox.
As the old gearbox had not completed the required six races, a five-place grid penalty has been enforced and will be added to his qualifying position this afternoon.
Gearbox change for Nico now underway. We should be done in time for #quali but, of course, there will be a grid penalty involved. #RSspirit #AzerbaijanGP pic.twitter.com/eS7DiEt6hc
