Force India's chief operating officer Otmar Szafnauer has revealed he is hopeful Sergio Perez will sign a new contract ahead of the Belgian Grand Prix.
Perez, who has been with Force India since 2014, said just before the summer break that his future would be resolved soon, but did not commit to saying which team.
But, while the deal is not 100 per cent done, Szafnauer believes Perez will extend his stay with Force India for another year.
"We haven't quite signed Sergio yet but we're not far off," Szafnauer said.
"I think we can get it done by Spa. The high likelihood is that we're going to stick with our two drivers but I can't say that 100% because not both of them are signed."
Szafnauer revealed that a Plan B is also in place, which looks like it includes Sauber's Pascal Wehrlein.
"There's always got to be a plan B," added Szafnauer.
"So, if for some reason we don't sign Checo – but I believe we will – then you've got to look around, including Wehrlein. He's not so bad!"
