Sergio Perez has once again hailed Force India for punching above their weight having finished P6 and P7 in Russia on Sunday.
Force India entered this year’s championship believing they would be on the back foot having missed the mark with the VJM10.
Despite that the team, pinning their hopes on a big upgraded at this month’s Spanish Grand Prix, have scored points in all four races and recorded their biggest haul of the season at the Sochi Autodrom.
Perez finished sixth on Sunday, one place ahead of his team-mate Esteban Ocon, to put Force India 13 points clear of Williams in the battle for fourth.
“Looking where we are, we shouldn’t have finished there with pure pace,” Perez said.
“We were there again to take the opportunity from Red Bull and Williams, they had issues.
“The team once again did a tremendous job, so I’m very happy and satisfied with the performance.
“At the moment, we’re really far [away].
“In pure pace, we shouldn’t be there.
“We’ve been doing big miracles to be where we are.
“But I think if we bring a lot of pace to the car we can definitely give them a big challenge.”
